Jeff Sabatino, varsity football assistant coach at Amherst Central High School, earned a 2023 High School Broyles Award, a prestigious national award that honors one assistant football coach from each of the 50 states.

The Broyles Award is presented annually to the collegiate assistant coach of the year. In 2018, the Broyles Award added to their 25-year tradition of honoring the nation’s best collegiate assistant football coaches through the creation of the High School Broyles Award.

“It was more than a once in a lifetime experience - in 25 years of coaching - there was never a thought in my mind I would be honored like that for what I do,” said Sabatino, of winning the award. “You are acknowledging something that simply does not get noticed at the high school level - I am humbled. Being a part of the Broyles Award is the greatest experience of my professional life."

Coach Sabatino was honored at the high school ring ceremony held at the Clinton National Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. Additionally, Coach Sabatino and the rest of the state winners were recognized as honored guests at the presentation of the collegiate Broyles Award at the Arkansas Statehouse Convention Center.

"I am elated to see Coach Sabatino receive this well-deserved honor,” said ACHS varsity football head coach Jason Beckman. “He has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to our staff, and does a tremendous job building relationships with our players. Jeff is an exceptional coach who does things the right way. I think it's fitting that he is being recognized with this prestigious award.”

Sabatino also was named the 2022 New York State High School Football Coaches Association (NYSHSFCA)  Assistant Coach of the Year for his role in helping to lead the Tigers to their most successful season in over a decade in the fall of 2022.
